Are You Forgetting The Most Important Person?
So there I was sitting in front of the TV watching past seasons of Orange Is The New Black (I love this show, btw!) but couldn’t focus because of what happened the day before.
You see, my husband Josh and I got into a pretty big fight and I was still pretty furious from it.
In hindsight, what he said wasn’t so bad but at the time when it was said was so out of proportion.
What really happened was that I was super sensitive and didn’t even know it. I was on edge because I was building two businesses and running myself to the ground. I was so tunneled visioned on building my businesses that I failed to take the time off to nurture “me”.
The busier we get the more commitments we have and became more difficult to take that time off and unwind, reflect, and recharge.
Taking regular breaks to switch off, relax and recharge is an important part of self care so here is my advice on effectively taking the time off for yourself:
Be intentional and ask “what do I want to get out of this time off?”. If you can identify the need for your time off and be intentional about it, you’ll most likely be able to meet those needs far more than when you’re just taking time off and lazing around. Make a list of activities that helps you recharge. A walk in the park with relaxing music, taking a bath (spa style), cooking, coloring color books, writing poems, meditation, yoga, exercise… anything that can energize your mind and body.
